There’s a second pathway: The Mysterious Facility
The Facility brings a different card pool, enemies and rewards. Access is tied to quests, so do not expect every route to be available immediately.
When you enter a new card pool, build around what you find. Keep enough exploration tools to use the rooms you encounter instead of chasing the exact cards from your last run.
Five characters, with quests to unlock more options
The launch roster is Paperboy, Janitor, Lunchlady, Activist and Concerned Parent. Each has different starting Combat and Explore decks and a base Foresight. Quests unlock advanced characters as well as access to The Facility.
Before choosing your first rewards, read your starting Foresight. Look for cards that help trigger it, while keeping a reliable way to deal damage and recover health.
Can you save and quit?
Your run autosaves after you win a fight or escape a dungeon. Finish that encounter before taking a break.
Do not assume quitting halfway through a fight will preserve your exact hand or turn. The launch save points are encounter boundaries, not a promise of a save after every card you play.

Will your Demo build still work?
Early Access rebalances the game. A familiar card name does not guarantee the same cost, damage or trigger, especially after upgrades.
- Read the effect again. Check the target and the condition for any bonus.
- Count the whole combo’s cost. Leave enough energy to play the finisher or food it creates.
- Check what the route offers. The Facility has a separate card pool, so a familiar plan may need different pieces.
Can you play with a controller?
Yes. Controller support is part of the Early Access launch. There is also a card inspector and clearer targeting for single enemies, multiple enemies and player buffs.
Before committing a card, inspect its full text and the highlighted target. This is especially useful when an upgraded card has several effects or you are reading on a smaller screen.
Where are the save files on Windows?
Open File Explorer and enter %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Team Lazerbeam\Shroom and Gloom\SaveData in the address bar. Open your Steam ID folder, then follow its subfolders to find game.stats, Meta.json and Run.json.
The logs are in the parent Shroom and Gloom folder. Copy files if you need to share them with support; you do not need to edit or delete your saves to report a problem.
On Steam Deck, the path is different. Use the developer’s platform-specific file locations.
How do I report a bug?
Post in Bug Reports & Technical Issues with what happened, the steps that cause it, and a screenshot or video. The developer also requests save files and crash diagnostics when applicable.
Include your build number: the Windows instructions place it at the bottom-left of the Pause Menu; the Steam Deck instructions point to the bottom-right of the Main Menu. Follow the official reporting instructions for your platform.
Which platforms and languages are supported?
The Early Access FAQ lists PC and Mac, with English and Simplified Chinese at launch. Other platform releases have not been promised. Controllers are supported, though the developers say controller feel is still being refined.
What should you do first?
Start a run with the character and route you can access. Read your starting tools, plan both damage and recovery, and learn what the new cards do before forcing a combo. Finish a fight or dungeon before stopping so the run reaches an autosave point.
If the basic loop feels unfamiliar, start with the beginner guide. For a specific term, open the card keyword guide.
