CONCERNED PARENT COMBO

Turn card draw into Rage

Play Parental Instinct before Photo, then attack after the draw triggers resolve. The order is what makes this combination work.

What does each card do?

Parental Instinct — set up the trigger
The preview’s 1-energy Mood creates Hysterical Strength, which grants 2 Rage whenever you draw a card.
Photo — trigger it twice
This 0-energy Skill draws two cards, then Exhausts. It supplies the draw; it is not the attack.
Stomp — spend energy on damage
The demonstrated attack costs 1 energy and makes Regret. Its damage display includes a separate Rage bonus, so do not read the full number as its base damage.

Which order should you play them in?

  1. Play Parental Instinct first. You need Hysterical Strength active before drawing the extra cards.
  2. Play Photo. In the preview, both draws trigger Hysterical Strength. The attack bonus rises from +2 to +6: two draws add another 4 Rage.
  3. Inspect the attack, then choose a target. The shown Stomp reads 2 + 6 damage after the draws. That is 8 displayed damage before considering the target’s defenses or other effects.

The shown setup and one Stomp cost 2 energy altogether. Keep enough energy for the hit; drawing a stronger attack is no help if you cannot play it.

Watch the official demonstration at 04:30–04:47. Photo is shown at 04:43, followed by the boosted Stomp at 04:47.

What should you pick next?

Start with a playable attack. Once you have the draw-triggered Mood, consider draw that still leaves you enough energy to attack. Adding more setup cards before you have a payoff can leave you with a hand that does little to the enemies.

No Photo? Compare other cards that actually draw with their energy cost and drawbacks. The useful property is drawing while Hysterical Strength is active; a card that only creates another card is not automatically a draw substitute.

No Hysterical Strength? Treat Photo as draw, not as a guaranteed damage bonus. Play the useful cards in hand instead of waiting for a missing combo piece.

Why did the combo fail?

  • You drew before setting up. Earlier draws cannot trigger a Mood that was not active yet.
  • You ran out of energy. Check the current attack cost before spending on more setup.
  • You counted on Photo again. The demonstrated Photo Exhausts, so do not plan the next cycle around redrawing it normally.
  • You treated Rage as permanent growth. The preview labels Hysterical Strength Temporary. Plan around the current turn rather than assuming the bonus will carry over.

This is a damage sequence, not a complete survival plan. Keep a way to recover and a useful play for hands that miss the combo. Plan your recovery →
